Me ftesë të Ambasadës Norvegjeze në Kosovë, Kryeministri i Republikës së Kosovës, Albin Kurti mori pjesë në festimin e 209- vjetorit të miratimit dhe nënshkrimit të Kushtetutës së Norvegjisë.
Në fjalën e tij për nder të kësaj dite, kryeministri tha se kjo Kushtetutë konsiderohet gjerësisht si një nga kushtetutat më liberale dhe demokratike në botë dhe e cila mbush shoqërinë dhe institucionet norvegjeze me bindjet themelore të demokracisë, të lirisë së bazuar në barazi dhe të drejtat e njeriut.
Derisa vuri në dukje praninë e mbi pesëmbëdhjetë mijë qytetarëve kosovarë në Norvegji të cilët u larguan nga Kosova për të krijuar një të ardhme më të mirë duke e arritur këtë, për kryeministrin Kurti ky komunitet i rëndësishëm i diasporës, ka bërë jetesën, ka krijuar familje dhe komunitete, ata marrin pjesë në zgjedhje, organizojnë turne futbolli dhe festivale, shkruajnë rekomandime për politika dhe shkëlqejnë në të gjitha profesionet.
‘’Sot, fëmijët e tyre po i bashkohen gjithashtu paradës së fëmijëve në Oslo dhe festimeve në të gjithë Norvegjinë. Ata janë bërë pjesë integrale e shoqërisë norvegjeze dhe kanë mbetur pjesë integrale edhe për Kosovën. Ata janë një urë lidhëse e paçmuar mes dy vendeve tona. Ata i bëjnë demokracitë tona më të forta dhe kontribuojnë në rritjen e shkëmbimeve kulturore dhe ekonomike’’ u shpreh ai.
Kryeministri veçoi se Norvegjia luajti një rol kyç njëzet e katër vjet më parë kur Kosova u kërcënua nga gjenocidi, dhe ka vazhduar të jetë një partnere e qëndrueshme dhe e besueshme teksa ne ndërtojmë një shtet të pavarur, sovran dhe demokratik.
Fjalën e tij kryeministri e përfundoi duke cituar dramaturgun e mirënjohur Henrik Ibsen, se “Shtylla e së vërtetës dhe shtylla e lirisë, janë shtyllat e shoqërisë”, duke thënë se ne gjejmë një të përbashkët në partneritetin tonë.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Dear members of the diplomatic corps, members and representatives of the Parliament, Government, civil society, business and media,
Honorable Ambassador Grøndal,
Friends,
Norway’s constitution is 209 years old this year. It is largely considered as one of the most liberal and democratic constitutions in the world and provides cause for our gathering today. It is a constitution that imbues Norwegian society and institutions with the very foundational convictions of democracy, of freedom based on equality and human rights.
Therefore, it is with great ease and conviction that I congratulate our Norwegian friends and celebrate their continued and persistent self-determination in advancing their democracy. Kosova shares in this conviction: a commitment to human rights, a rule-based order, and a partnership for peace and stability in our continent, and the world.
Incidentally, just last week, one of the world’s most prominent human rights institutions, The Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, unveiled the installation of a very important work of art. A joint production of Kosovar artist Petrit Halilaj, and Urbano Alvaro from Spain, the work ‘Forget me not’ is now placed at the Center in a permanent exhibition. It is also now part of Norway’s National Public Art Collection. Known to the Kosovar audience in a different rendition, from last year’s Manifesta, this impressive work of art now adorns one of the most important institutions of the human rights in the world. That a piece of Kosovar artistic expression is part of this relevant institution and will punctuate the experience of countless visitors in the future, makes us especially proud. Its message is universal, as much as it is particular. Through care for each other, empathy despite adversity, personal and collective histories are used to image the future.
As you may know, there are over fifteen thousand of our citizens in Norway. Most left Kosova to create a better future, and they did so. This significant diaspora community, has made a living, created families and communities, they run in elections, organize football tournaments and festivals, write policy recommendations, and excel in all professions. Today, their children are also joining the children’s parade in Oslo, and the festivities throughout Norway. They have become an integral part of Norwegian society, and they have remained integral to Kosova as well. They are an invaluable bridge between our two countries. They make our democracies stronger, and they contribute to growing cultural and economic exchange.
Although this will be the last 17th of May celebration in Kosova before the closing of the Embassy this summer, I am certain that it will not be the last official celebration we will have. Norwegian-Kosovar relations have grown and strengthened through the years. Norway played a key role twenty-four years ago when Kosova was threatened by genocide and has continued to be a steady and reliable partner as we build an independent, sovereign and democratic state.
Today, similarly, when the security of the whole of Europe and especially the Western Balkans is threatened, currently by Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, Norway is playing an indispensable role at the nexus of energy security and threats posed by democracies’ backsliding and rising authoritarianism.
Kosova is a steady partner in this joint concern. We have made, and continue to make, great progress in creating the legal, political, and social architecture that has generated exceptional economic growth, EU related reform, opportunities for social advancement through education and inclusion, and protection. We have proven that Kosova can and has only contributed to sustainable peace in the Western Balkans.
In the words of the acclaimed playwright Henrik Ibsen, “The pillar of truth and the pillar of freedom, they are the pillars of society,” we find a commonality for our partnership.
